It is a myth that the marvel character Steve
Rogers (Captain America) does not age. He does age, but the super soldier serum
has greatly reduced the negative effects of ageing. In his first movie, captain
was shown to be born in the year 1920 and was given the super serum at the age
of 24. After that he fell into the icy waters near the end of World War II, so
he was 24 or 25 when he was frozen.
He remained in frozen waters for decades
which further diminished his ageing rate. The cell activity was almost stopped,
but the serum effects kept him alive at a very negligible rate. When he was
recovered from frozen waters and thawed, his pulse activity started and he
regained the consciousness. When captain was discovered, he was officially of
60 years age, but appearance did not changed due to above explained reasons.
In
fact, the captain himself does not feel that he is so aged, because his memories
were only till he fell into the waters. So, Steve Rogers is between 34-39 years
old and he is drawn to look that way. He
doesn't look like the fresh faced kid that volunteered at the beginning of
WWII.
All these changes are tailored and adopted as
per the plot requirements of the movie. In the subsequent movies, based on the
time line of the movie, the Captain America character might or might not be
altered much. One should not be surprised to see ageing effect in the Captain
America character, if the story line is in far future.
