Any inhabitants of
the planet Krypton are called Kryptonians. The character Superman’s home planet
is Krypton on which a technically much advanced species were inhabited. They
look almost same as that of earthlings in appearance. The planet Krypton orbits
around a large red sun called Rao and is located about 50 light-years from
Earth. A light-year, as defined by the International Astronomical Union is the
distance that light travels in a vacuum in one year, which is approximately 10
trillion km or 6 trillion miles. With this statistics, you can estimate how far
the Krypton is located away from the earth.
All this introduction
kept apart, now let us come to the main point here. We are discussing why the Kryptonians
are so strong and defy gravity? Let me correct this statement. Kryptonians
appear strong and powerful only on earth ( and any other planet similar to earth),
they are considered as normal on their home planet Krypton.
Krypton is much
larger than Earth, and so it has a much greater gravitational pull. The body
systems of Kryptonians is evolved in requirements with the natural factors of
the planet. The body structure, design, bone density, muscle buildup, blood
circulation, brain setup, ear/eye functionality and nervous system are adopted
to the natural conditions of Krypton which in comparison with the earth are
highly extreme. So, when superman or any other Kryptonians reached earth, he
will have extremely lighter stress on their body system. This makes them appear
to have great powers in comparison with that of earthlings.
This phenomenon can
be seen when General Zod visited earth to get hold of superman, their fight
seems almost equal. In certain cases, Zod seems to have upper hand because
Superman's body systems have slightly adopted to the earth ecosystem and thus
slightly vulnerable to the power of Zod. One more example is moon, on which you
will feel lighter that earth. With simple push, you can jump higher. Having
said, if there was a life on moon, we would be stronger compared with the
moonlings.

Their strength, flight and other powers cannot be accounted for by higher gravity. Jumping is one thing, but Kryptonians can change course while aloft, a feat not accountable for by the ability to jump high. Their strength comes from our sun and if they are deprived of that energy they become increasingly more weak. This author's account, while making sense from the perspective of real life physics does not conform to the canonical differences between Kryptonians and humans.
